Civil Project Manager

Department: Civil Engineering
Location: Englewood, CO

CORE CONSULTANTS, INC.

Empowering people to thrive at home, at work, and in their community.

Project Manager

Since 2014, CORE Consultants has grown into a recognized professional services firm serving land development, energy, and public infrastructure clients across Colorado and the surrounding region. With two offices and 40+ team members, we're a place where people genuinely thrive — and we're intentional about building a firm where that's true for everyone.

We're hiring a Civil Project Manager to take full ownership of complex, meaningful projects across our core market sectors — and to help shape the next chapter of our firm's growth.

THE ROLE

You'll be the go-to leader for your project portfolio — managing client relationships, leading a talented team, and owning financial outcomes from kickoff to closeout. This isn't a seat where you execute someone else's plan. You'll set the strategy, build the team, and deliver results that matter to real communities.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

  • Full project lifecycle ownership — planning, execution, client communication, and financial performance
  • Lead contract negotiations that balance client needs with firm financial goals
  • Build and develop high-performing project teams; delegate to individual strengths and invest in professional growth
  • Drive client satisfaction and cultivate repeat business through proactive, honest communication
  • Manage project budgets and schedules; understand the risk-reward relationship of every project change
  • Participate in business development — identify and grow opportunities from your existing client base
  • Provide consistent feedback and coaching to direct reports as part of our culture of development

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) — Colorado PE or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • 10+ years of progressive experience including significant senior project management leadership
  • Proven track record managing projects in land development, public infrastructure, or renewable energy
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with project management or financial tracking software (Deltek, Ajera, or similar)
  • Strong ability to manage multiple complex projects and communicate across all stakeholder levels
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record

Preferred

  • Experience leading and developing a team of direct reports
  • Existing client relationships in Colorado land development or municipal markets
  • Experience participating in fee development and professional services contract negotiation

YOU'LL THRIVE AT CORE IF...

We're specific about the kind of person who succeeds here — not because we're rigid, but because our team holds itself to a real standard. Here's what we've seen consistently in our best performers:

YOU DO WHAT YOU SAY

You align your actions with your commitments. You admit mistakes, own them, and improve. Trust is the currency you build your career on.

YOU DELIVER EXCELLENCE

You're committed to outcomes, not just effort. You use data, stay patient under pressure, and follow through even when it's hard.

YOU DEVELOP YOUR PEOPLE

You invest in the team. You give timely, direct feedback — both praise and correction. You promote others' success over your own ego.

YOU SOLVE PROBLEMS

You ask 'why' before you act. You consider multiple perspectives, break complexity into steps, and bring stakeholder-aware solutions.

YOU BUILD RELATIONSHIPS

You're deliberate about networking and client relationships. You have a system, and you work it — even when it's uncomfortable.

YOU THINK LIKE AN OWNER

You understand project financials and firm-level KPIs. You're becoming the person who sees the business, not just their own deliverables.

YOU IMPROVE RELENTLESSLY

You have a plan for your own growth. You find opportunity inside obstacles. You're a consistent learner — not because you have to be, but because you want to be.
